A lot of people use marijuana nowadays, even if it is illigal. Do you use it? Why or why not? Are you aware of any health pros or cons from using marijuana? How often do you do it?

I'll be watching this topic very carefully. Because of the fact that we're a teen community, we cannot promote drug use. Any posts deemed to be promoting drug use will be edited accordingly.

Yes I do think pot should be legalized, but for medical reasons. I have read that marijuana may help cancer and AIDS patients but the problem is that scientist are not able to test marijuana since it is illegal in the US.

That's true I think scientists should be allowed to test it to learn more about it so they can make an informed decision regarding its medicinal purposes. I don't think it should be 'legalized' but I think it should be available by prescription and users could carry some type of permit.

even though i'm a bit intimidated by sarah's post....
i'll try not to say something inappropriate.
okay, i smoke pot. it's an individual choice, and i made the decision a long time ago. maybe it wasn't the best choice. i don't know. it's sort of an everyday normal thing. it doesn't even worry me. but maybe it should.
most of my friends are BIG potheads, so i don't even have anyone around me who disaproves....except my 'rents of course.
since i started, i've read a lot of stuff about how it could be harmful to my growth, in terms of affecting hormones and all. it's definitely not physically addictive, although you can get the oral fixation. it can also be emotionally addictive, and it's helped me get through tough times. i feel really wierd saying that, because it make me sound like such a delinquent(sp?).
and sarah, this is an issue with teens today, so i think the topic should remain open, and unrestricted, because people need to be able to talk somewhere. please consider that.

^^Don't be intimidated. I'm very aware that this is an issue with today's teens, and it needs to be discussed. If I had my way I'd let this discussion run free. However, Midnight can get in trouble if he markets (for lack of a better word) his board for teenagers and then promotes illegal drug use. That's the only reason why I said that.

^^ May I add on to that? I hope you don't mind. I just wanted to say that while we're all very aware that drugs are a big issue with teens today, and needs to be discussed, it's not any of the moderator or Midnight's fault that they can't be discussed here. I believe that it's in Proboards rules/TOS that you cannot discuss drugs or alcohol in a positive way, otherwise, as Sarah said, Midnight can get into trouble, and they could possibly ban him from having these boards. In short, it's not the MODs and Admin making that rule, but Proboards themselves. Although, please correct me if I'm wrong with any of that. [Edit] This is what Midnight agreed to when he signed up to have these boards. This is taken straight from the TOS: User's web site may not contain content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity.and This service may be terminated at any time by the Provider or User. The Provider may at it's sole discretion remove any message board for any reason.

Exactly, Fyre. Now everyone should understand why I have to watch this very carefully.

I have never smoked pot, nor do I want to. Some of my friends have tried it, and lots of people at school do it. But, I know it is bad for me, and if you have to smoke something to make you feel better, then you already have a problem, and need help. I am happy without having to get high, and being naturally happy is a lot safer. I am not making fun of or want to make people feel bad, it was my decision, and that is how I feel about it.

Some of my friends have, but I don't want to use it, nor will I ever I think. For me, personally, I don't think one should use marijuana to get through "tough times" or whatever. Everyone has them and should learn to get through them without any... illegal substances, or even some legal ones (e.g. alcohol). It may make things easier in the short term, but in the long run, it will probably cause more harm than good, and you aren't learning to deal with what life throws at you. I also heard that the long term effects of marijuana aren't all that great either (e.g. losing brain cells). Not condemning anyone who does use it, that's your perrogative and none of my business, this is just my belief and my preference.

[glow=pink,2,300]I'm like Keista1 and FuzzySlippers, I've never smoked pot, nor do I ever want to. It's just not my thing. My boyfriend is another story. I know he does it but I kinda live by a don't ask don't tell policy with that. One of my best friends is a big pot head too. I guess as long as they keep it away from me. I do think it should be legalized for medical purposes. [/glow]

I smoke it. I'm not an everyday kinda gal, but once in a while I'll have some. A lot of my friends do it...and I know a lot of people who deal. I think it's kind of become something we consider normal (which I'm not saying is a good thing), so no one's really like, "Oh my GOD! You smoke weed?!" I dunno. I used to think drugs were really bad, but I guess my view is [not allowed to be written here]. (<-Don't wanna get in trouble. heh.) Love, ~The Kitten~

I've never smoked it, never will. I smelled it once, almost got sick, and left the place as soon as possible. As for legalizing it, I've never looked into the topic, so I don't have an opinion on it.
Why don't I do it? I have an addictive personality. A lot of people who smoke marijuana move on to harder drugs. I would end up disappointing myself and those who have practically killed themselves to get me to be who I am today. I would rather get high on life. If I can't get high on life, then I'll get help.
I know some people who do it... I don't associate with them very much, but as long as they keep it away from me, they can do whatever they want.

i think it's cool that all you kids don't let friends pressure you into doing things you don't want to do. I guess people don't really get shocked anymore, it's kind of on par ith ciggies and alkoohol. marijuana day is coming up, is anyone going to the marches in their area?
