Of course the answer is simple, to lose weight, to increase strength, to enjoy health. But is there another reason you excercise? Maybe you do it to release tension, to help figure out the answer to something going on in your life, or you need to get away via a long walk or bike ride because you're trying to do something creative and excercise helps trigger ideas. I do it mostly to help my creativity, or to burn off some tension. What say you?

You took the words right out of my mouth.
to help figure out the answer to something going on in your life,
May I ask what you mean by that? Excerise doesn't usually help me solve problems in my life, I'm curious how you mean that.

Depending on the excercise like a long walk or bike ride, gets me out of the apartment for awhile and away from things. Not so much helping to solve a problem, but allowing you to think about something more fully, but without any distractions of a phone, TV or someone in the room. Speaking for myself, I pretty much disappear in my own thoughts not paying much attention to anything else.

Well, my current exercising consists of running for about 25 to 30 minutes before wrestling practice at the school. We run down the hall, up two sets of stairs to the second floor, down that hall, and then down the other sets of stairs back to the first floor and repeat that. Once wrestling is over with I am going to be going to the gym to do weight lifting to build strength and just generally look better.
I know what Bilbo means about helping to solve problems. When I run, if I let my mind wander (which I don't usually do, I usually don't think about anything when I run, my mind is empty), I end up thinking about my problems and how to solve them. It seems that when you exercise, life becomes much simpler ...
