Although there is no harm in doing these toning excersizes on your stomach (if done properly), JUST doing that wll not actually take away that layer of fat. Crunches, sit ups and other abdominal excersizes will just give you great muscle, but under the fat. To burn the fat you need to do cardiovascular work outs. Running, skipping, TaeBo(or how ever you spell it), Dance...etcetc will all help.

drinking lots of water everyday, has helped me lose the fat on my tummy, also if i drink more water a half an hour before i exercise, I burn more fat and calories, (in the morning) and I can feel and see the diffrence. I also use a yoga ball to help me lose weight on the tummy. Also, doing crunches, w/ a dumb-bell on my tummy, then curl my elbows @ the same time while pulling up.
