Treadmills are a great way to exercise, no matter what the weather is like. No need to be overheated or freezing cold, and you don't even have to go out in public. You don't have to worry about there being natural sunlight outside, either. Anytime you're ready to move, the treadmill is there.
I like treadmills, just because I love running. Personally, I prefer running outside, but when the weather isn't great, treadmills are the way to go.
If you get bored exercising, this is the thing for you. Put your treadmill in front of the TV, or crank up the music. It may seem boring to run in the same spot for more than a few minutes, but if you have a favourite TV show to watch, chances are you'll be paying more attention to the show than the lack of excitement in your exercise. Before you know it, it will have been a great workout!
It's different than running on a track, so you may have to go at a different pace, and it may take longer to get the same results. But the convenience makes it all worthwhile, and a great substitute for real running when the weather or time of day just isn't working out. Just make sure that you have the proper shoes, that fit right and provide enough support, to prevent sore feet.
The positive aspects of running belong in a thread all their own, but let me just add that it relieves stress and is a great workout!

We use to have one of those untill the little motor thing inside stopped working. I tried fixing it, but after I had taken most of it apart I couldn't even get it back together then, so we threw it out in the trash.

[glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow]I wouldn't mind getting a treadmill but I don't have enough room, so I will stick to running and walking at the gym or outside.

I don't think they do much for me. I need an intense work-out.

I LOVE treadmills! I definately agree w/ Natalie. They're so convenient. We used to have one in the guest room, but for some reason my dad moved it to the garage, and sometime's it's too cold in there.

You CAN get an intense workout on a treadmill. The way to do this is to not only increase the speed, but to increase the incline. Try a 12% grade at about 3.5-4.5 mph. That is an excellent cardiovascular workout, and it burns 600-700 calories per hour.

Well, I guess I really haven't fooled around with one long enough to really get a work-out then. Hmm.

We have a treadmill at my house, and I always say I am going to get on it, but for some reason something always comes up! lol. Actually, I just don't like running in one spot, plus it is in my cold basement w/bugs and stuff. I need to lose weight though, and soon! Summer is coming!!

There's one in my basement that belonged to the previous owners of the house. It's not a very high quality one, so there's not a lot of walking room, and also, when you step on it, the weight prevents it from moving, completely defeating the purpose of it.
I prefer my exercise bike.

I honestly prefer Tae-Bo to work-out machines. It just seems more effective(hey, I have a 6 pack!). But, hey...that's just me. ;D

I have a treadmill @ home, and it is conveient. I love it. I get on it for about 30 minutes, I love how treadmills can be soo intense. Its Great! I don't like to run in cold weather, so when it gets warmer, I Like to jog outside, and just do road-running, w/ my Golden Retriever. He makes it more fun to run. hehe! ;D
