What do you have and what do you really want? I have a Compaq Deskpro 4000 with 133 MHZ processor and 2 GB Hard drive. A 15" CRT monitor, a Brother HL-1240 laser printer, and a Lexmark Z-11 inkjet printer. <br> I want a Dell 4400 with CD or DVD-Rom drive, a CD-burner, 80 GB drive and 512 MB RAM memory. An Epson color printer, a Viewsonic 17.5" flat-panel monitor, a Visioneer scanner, and a switcher so I can control two computers with one keyboard, mouse and monitor. And I want them all black. I hate beige. Anyone see those Alienware gaming computers? Those look awesome but they're expensive. Topping out at about four grand or more. They're huge too, have 100 GB hard drives and they come in black, green, blue, brown, red, and I think silver. If you're a gamer and have money to burn, that's a good looking system to have. Check put the colors on these things. A bright yellow monitor! Wouldn't that look cool on your desk. www.alienware.com/main/gaming_main.asp

My fiancé and I just upgraded everything, so this is what we have thus far:
•AMD Athlon XP processor •1.10 GHz •40 GB hard drive •15" monitor •256 MB of RAM •Burner •CD drive
and some other things that I'm probably forgetting.
We're gonna get a flat screen monitor probably within 2 weeks, a printer and a new digi camera, and then I think we're set for quite awhile.

Hey Fyre, Viewsonic monitors are about the best. A 19" monitor is about $300.00.
I would upgrade myself but I'd spend so much money, I'd be better off buying a whole new system.
As for printers, inkjet or laser? Keep in mind what they call "cost of consumables." That is, the cost of the ink or toner cartridge. I've seen laser printers as low as $200.00, but the toner cart costing almost as much. My laser, the Brother, has a toner cart that costs $90.00 but I'm good for 6,000 pages of text.
Inkjet carts can be as much as 20 ¢ a page, and that adds up to $40.00 inkjet carts. HP has the best inkjets as far as the tests are concerend but people I talk to love their Epsons. So it's kind of subjective. I'm getting an Epson myself in the future.

Our new computer, which was delivered a few days ago, features a 19" flat-screen Samsung SyncMaster 955DF monitor, two J-S speakers, a LG built-in CD-writer and CD-ROM, and also a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 710 color printer and Aztec 1236 USB scanner. It's an Intel Inside Pentium 4. We still use a modem for Internet connection, because apparently DSL is yet unavailable in our region.
There are probably a few more things I forgot to mention.

We have a Compaq Presario and I have a Sony Vaio Laptop.
Which reminds me, do any of you who have laptops ever have problems with it shutting down when you move it. For some reason when my laptop is on and I lift it up to move it someplace else or if i even scoot it over a few inches the screen will go black and all these white letters start running (up and down) across my screen and usually I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete so it will restart but one time that didn't work at all so I had to unplug it and take the batteries out.
Also my laptop seems to disconnect a lot ever since I've been using it now. (it's a year old this october) Before it was the opposite b/c our computer used to disconnect a lot and now it doesn't.
Also sometimes it takes forever for my laptop to connect to the internet. Anyone might know why? I don't have much files saved to it...
