It would still be way too hot I would think, and the planet would have to bleed off all the heat its been holding. Interesting possibilty though. Yes, it would be hot, but I wouldnt think that it would take that much time to cool down. Mercury is too hot to support life, and earth is just right. Venus, which is in between, and I think, about the size of earth, would be able to provide a stable environment, if its thick clouds cleared up. The planet could then "terraform" and develop life.
