So if the shadows go off in different directions, why are there not multiple lights? Hmm?
Another reason for the great pictures, the astronauts practised many times before they were able to use the camera.
The thrust from the LEM not making a crater: The engine bell is some 53 inches across, the diameter evens and spreads out the thrust to just a few PSI so it's not going to move alot of dust. When the LEM takes off from the moon, there is no flame because there is a lack of oxygen and Hydrazine does not burn with much of a flame anyway.
On Earth, which is a totally different environment than the moon, rocket trails are compressed into the long thin trails we're used to seeing. In space, the thrust exhaust is going to flare out.
The flag ripples when the astronaut tries to shove it into the dust. The flag ripples because of the movement transmitted from the astronaut. Try it. The flag appears rippled because the rod extending from the pole is too short so the astronauts left it with a ripple because they like the way it looked.
