I do. I'm so sick of it.
I mean, who really gives a crap about the football teams, besides the football players and the cheerleaders? Hold a pep rally for yourself, because that's the only people who care. Oh, and prep-wannabes. It's such a waste of time, and people get way too obsessed with school spirit. A guy threatened to beat me up because I said "Go Tigers" which is the other team in our town. Um, bite me.
Anybody else want it to die a painful death? It's our school, for God's sake, our learning place, not our place of worship. @*%! it!

^^^ me too... I love our annual pep-assembly. I love dressing in red and white and having a "GO WARRIORS Concordia Tacoma Nikki" On the back of my car. I love going to basketball/soccer/volleyball/ and track meets. I may not some of the things in my school but when it all comes down to it...I've been a warrior for 8 years and I'm proud of it! ;D

In high school, I wasn't too big on school spirit. If pep rallies were held at the end of the school day, I skipped them. Heck, I missed all of the football games, except for three or four... Although I did support my school over the rival high school. <shrugs> I dunno, it just wasn't that important to me. I'm one of the first to say that if the school is having money troubles, then the first to go should be the sports programs, so that kinda shows how I support our school "activities". My, am I wordy tonight.

School spirit is dumb, especially in high school. I hated my school anway, so why should I care if the stupid football team won the game? I was actually more concerned about actually *gasp* getting good grades. Because, you know, no college is going to care if you went to every football game or painted the Homecoming float.

I like school spirit...but my grades (are very good) are important to me, also. There's nothing wrong with having a little bit of school spirit. I love football games because you just get to chill and hang out with friends while watching football. And I get to see many of my old friends, who go to different schools now, at football games. Our whole school is all 'spirit-y'....everyone's into school spirit. Though, some of the pep rallies, I could do without.
I like shouting 'Go Big Blue!' (our school colors are red, white, and blue....although we just call ourselves the big blue), 'Come on Warriors', and 'Let's go ED!'. I like cheering for out teams.....wether it be football, basketball, track, softball/baseball.....whatever. I like rootin' for out school!

I don't have much - ok, any - spirit for my new school. Chances are I'll be going to more of one of the other schools where most of my closer friends decided to go to's football/basketball games than my own. A lot of the reason I'd even want to go is to see people from the other schools that I won't be seeing much anymore. The people at my new school that were already there seem to have so much spirit it's nauseating, but I don't know yet.
Last year, I had enough school spirit to just go and have fun at the games. (I didn't care much if we won or not...our football team didn't win one game last year. At all.) It was just fun, though, nothing I took seriously.
Pep rallies were horrible. They were boring and I almost always ended up with a headache. And most of the time they ended up getting way, way out of hand.

I guess I have some school spirit. I'll go to the football games to hang out with friends, and I've always liked to watch football/basketball/any other sport. I think it has to do with lack of anything else going on. If it gets boring, its fun to run around the school at night, and go across the street to get some food. Its also fun to throw m&ms and skittles at the cheerleaders.
Pep rallies are okay cause we all get to miss class. Half the school is in the gym, and it always gets crazy.
But other than that, you won't find me with any face paint on, or wearing the school colors. blegh.

Pep rallies are so boring..and loud. Also, I don't like having a screwed up schedule just so I can spend half an hour watching cheerleaders giggle and whine for *more* attention.
I agree with Casseopia (sp), colleges don't give a crap about school spirit, so I'd rather actually focus on school than spirit.

>>Pep rallies are okay cause we all get to miss class.<<
Lucky. At my high school, everyone had an hour long study hall every day. When we were going to have a pep rally, they'd move the study hall period to 6th (last) period instead of in the middle of the day. And we'd go to our last class, and then when it was almost over, we'd have to go to the stupid pep rally. And then when the thing was over, we had to go *back* to class so they could make sure we were still there. It was so stupid. Usually during pep rallies, I brought a book with me so that I'd have something to do. Although, it's a little difficult to read when people are screaming in your ear.

School spirit is evil because it glorifies jocks and cheerleaders, popular people, all that fun stuff. Do they ever proudly proclaim their academic scores?! No! People have got to freaking knock this crap off. School is not about extracurricular activities. I'd hate to sound like some old, grouchy, menopausal teacher, but it's not fair to those who work hard and care about grades. School spirit my ass

^^What so no "jocks or cheeleaders" work hard or care about their grades?
I think school spirit can be fun. I go to most of the football and so do alot of my friends. I dont see why people think that kids who accelerate in athletics and represent the school in sports shouldnt be recognized.

^^I didn't mean that. And sure, they should get some credit. I meant, with jocks and cheerleaders and lovely pep ralleys, they are only being acknowledged for that reason.
Maybe they should be acknowledged, but then, so should students who work hard in an academic sense.

^ Well I dont know about your school but at mine we have a yearly academic excelence award night where students are recognized for their hard work at school, and we have two pep rallies a year, one for fall/winter sports and the other for spring sports. I mean they put in hours of work and practice, and would you rather be sitting in class?
